A bit about me you ask? OK. 2022-2023 is my 14th year at Skyline! I have lived in Washington my entire life; I'm the oldest of three-my brothers are 3 years younger, are twins, and have "given me" five kids (one nephew and four nieces-all but 1 have graduated high school) I LOVE BEING AN AUNT!!! I listen to all types of music (especially hard rock during grading).
I originally started my teaching "journey" with thoughts of becoming a choral director. I knew I always wanted to be a teacher (at the age of six my mom found me in my room with my stuffed animals and dolls sitting at desks made of boxes and I was teaching them-yep, too cute I know). Anyway, after high school I realized I was not ready for the whole "college thing" so I began working in downtown Seattle at various businesses as an administrative assistant which lead to thirteen years of working in many types of corporate positions. After reading too many pieces of correspondence with terrible grammar, I decided that music was out and English was in. I still play, and sometimes teach, piano which keeps me in music.
I graduated from Northwest University and started teaching high school English - best decision I have ever made! I FINALLY received my Masters in Teacher Leadership in June 2019 from SPU. I have begun the process of earning my second Masters SPU as well - I'll keep you updated. Because I am once again a student, I understand the pressures, successes, and hard work of being a student and will do my best to keep this in mind as we navigate the school year together.
I love purple, Despicable Me minions, purple, football, purple, spending time with my family, purple, Sherlock, purple, reading, purple, the ocean, purple, traveling, purple, Stitch (from Lilo & Stitch), purple, Paris, purple, and writing in journals. You will usually find me, most afternoons after I have collected papers to grade, at a local Starbucks(r) , listening to music and grading/reading/or writing. My Starbucks(R) drink of choice is an iced Chai w/a shot of decaf or an iced Passion Tea w/Lemonade + 2 Splenda(R) :)
I'm looking forward to spending time & learning with you!
GO SPARTANS! SEA...HAWKS! and HUSKIES!
